Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery is an Educational Institution located in the Zorzor Lofa County Republic of Liberia. Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery is offering quality nursing and midwifery education.
Since 1964 till date, Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery has contributed to fighting against maternal mortality in Liberia over the years. Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery has graduated thousands of Professional nurses and midwives who work in several facilities in different parts of Liberia, contributing positively to the upliftment of the health care system of Liberia.
Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery has one of the best nursing and midwifery learning facilities in Liberia. Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery graduates who work in several facilities in different parts of Liberia are highly praised because of the nursing and Midwifery skills they possess which they acquired from the Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery.
All teaching staff of Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery is highly qualified, and all teaching staff has a Master’s Degree in nursing education and other related disciplines.
ZORZOR MAIN CAMPUS
In 1964 Curran School of Midwifery and Practical Nursing was established as a separate institution and accredited by the National Board of Nursing. The missionaries took the lead in developing the curriculum for the medical laboratory, the School of Nursing and Midwifery. There were real faculties at this time. The Director of the school was Alice Deitz.
Esther Bacon was a Lutheran Missionary who arrived in Liberia on thanksgiving day 1941. She played a major role in the lives of the people of the Zorzor and Salayea Districts. She return to the United States of America to do her BSN, and Master’s in Public Health and upon her return to Curran joined the teaching staff of Curran School of Nursing and Midwifery.
In 1972, Esther Bacon dies at the Phebe Hospital from Lassa fever which she contracted from caring for a patient at Curran Hospital. She was a delegate and a hardworking missionary so after her death, the Nursing school was named in memorial of her. Today the school is called Esther Bacon School of Nursing and Midwifery.
